The website is operated by the company solute GmbH, was part of the ProSiebenSat.1 Media group of companies from 2007 to 2009, and is now a 91% holding of a publishing group of directory publishers. billiger.de is and has been the only Internet project of solute GmbH to date. The company has been based in Karlsruhe since it was founded in 2004. As the first and only price comparison portal nationally and internationally, it received the Safer Shopping Seal of TÜV Süd from 2007 to 2012. From 2012 to 2015, TÜV Rheinland took over a website check.
