Astra is a German beer brand. It belongs to the Holsten brewery, which in turn is a subsidiary of the Danish Carlsberg brewery. The beer was first brewed by the Bavaria brewery in the city of Altona, which was founded in 1897 and was called Bavaria until 1909. The Dutchman Peter I. de Voss, who already brewed beer in Altona in 1647, is considered to be the ancestor. In 1922 the Bavaria brewery merged with the Actien brewery from Hamburg-St. Pauli to Bavaria-St. Pauli brewery.
