The magazine was first published on March 17, 1994 by the Hamburg publishing group Milchstraße. In December 2004, 80 percent of the Milchstraße publishing group was taken over by Hubert Burda Media. Hubert Burda Media took over the remaining 20 percent in August 2006. In October 2010, the Milky Way Publishing Group and Focus Magazin Verlag were merged to form the Burda News Group. In addition to magazines, the Fit for Fun brand is also used for other products such as sportswear, sports equipment and food.
